Risley Moss
Winter - Snowy Scenes

I was fortunate that I happened to have a day off work when the one good snowfall of winter 2008-09 took place. It was in February 2009, and I decided to go for a walk into the park and then into Risley Moss. With almost nobody else around, these are some of the images that I captured on the walk. Within an hour, most of the snow had disappeared completely.

More recently, we had a much more significant snowfall in January 2010. You can see a gallery of 50 images from around Birchwood and including within Risley Moss by clicking here. There is also a video showing clips that were taken in Risley Moss. Several of the photos were used for a display within Risley Moss Visitor Centre.

The video was shot during two walks in Risley Moss, the first being an organised walk on to the mossland in January 2009 and the second a walk through the woodland on the day that I took the photos on this page, several of which are also in the video.
