Moelfre Lifeboat Day 2012 took place on 18th August. There had been plenty of rain in the days leading up to the event, including the day before and overnight, but fortunately the rain stayed off and it was even bright and sunny for a while. There was no visit this year from the RAF Rescue helicopter, as it had been called away on a rescue mission.
Thank you to all of involved in the organisation of the event for your hard work leading to another successful day.
This event was unique because it was the final Lifeboat Day for Moelfre's Tyne Class all weather boat RNLB Robert and Violet. On 4th March 2013 Moelfre's new Tamar Class boat the RNLB Kiwi first arrived, after its journey from RNLI HQ at Poole.

Click on any of the images to see a larger version. The larger versions have themselves been cropped and significantly reduced from the originals. They were taken on a DSLR camera at 15 megapixels.
A YouTube video of several clips of the day. It starts with a short clip of the Batala Samba Reggae band then moves on to several clips of the display itself from the coastal path on the opposite side of the bay. The display clips were all shot hand-held with a long lens on a DSLR camera so they appear a bit more jumpy than I would normally like.
I am happy to release higher resolution photos to charitable organisations, community and fundraising groups and local and national organisations such as the RNLI and local branches. Please get in touch if you are interested.
